Hi everyone, Fred (a.k.a. Astro Guy) here, I am the founder and author here on AstroJunkies.com.
I wanted to create this site for a couple of different reasons, one to provide helpful tips and tricks to those of you who are looking to get into the fascinating world of amateur astronomy!
Full disclosure, I don’t profess to be an astrophysicist that is going to provide you with a lot of highly technical information on astronomy and space (although I do have a Master’s Degree in Engineering). I’m just a regular guy that found a love of the stars, and wanted to share my tips, tricks and experiences.
What I can offer is over 15 years of being a “backyard” astronomer and over that time period technology and optics has changed quite a bit. I’ve been trying to stay on the leading edge of it, trialing, experimenting with a lot of the hardware and software on the market today.
My wife is convinced I have a bit of “nerd” in me, and AstroJunkies.com brings together that “nerdiness” and all my knowledge of astronomy gear, devices and software.
I’ve spent countless hours configuring and re-configuring my gear and setups over the years, and hopefully you won’t have to by reading some of my articles and recommendations. You could say I’ve become an expert of sorts!
I hope you enjoy reading the articles and reviews as much as I have enjoyed writing them and that you too will experience this awe inspiring past-time…it’s a whole lot of fun!
Fred (a.k.a. Astro Guy)
